The Chronicles of Dawn David Foundation which seeks to celebrate diversity, provides aid for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) was recently launched in Zimbabwe.

The organization was founded by Sarita Chitapa who was inspired by her own son’s journey with autism.
“We are celebrating Ruva’s 17th birthday and also the launch of Dawn David’s book called ‘Born Different,’” said Chitapa, the foundation’s director.
“Dawn David is 30 but turning 31 this year. It’s been years and years trying to figure out what was wrong about my son.”
After initially facing stigma and misunderstanding from her community, Chitapa found the courage to learn more about autism.
Chitapa told The Midweek Watch that she is determined to create an environment that supports people with autism and educates the public about the condition.
“They are people who are created by God like that to test our spirit of love,” Chitapa said. “Everyone must be loved.”
The foundation’s launch event also featured touching testimonials from the mothers of Ruvarashe and Peace, two other individuals with autism.
The Chronicles of Dawn David Foundation plans to expand its reach across Zimbabwe, with a focus on less privileged communities.
By celebrating diversity and providing aid, the organization hopes to improve the lives of those affected by autism.
“I noticed that Dawn’s calling and line of business was to help people with the same condition as his,” Chitapa said, adding that the foundation is going to target people with autism around Zimbabwe.”
