A 27-year-old Kwekwe man has been arrested on murder charges after allegedly fatally stabbing a customer during a dispute over change at a bar in Mbizo.
Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrest of Simbarashe Sithole (27), who is accused of killing 23-year-old Marshal Muyuni of Marshville, Mbizo, in an incident that occurred at AM Trading Tuck Shops on 13 July at around 6pm.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Muyuni had been drinking at the establishment when an argument broke out between him and Sithole over change. During the altercation, Muyuni allegedly slapped the bartender before leaving the premises.
It is alleged that Sithole, armed with a knife, pursued Muyuni outside the bar and stabbed him several times.
The injured man was rushed to Kwekwe General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following a report to the police, detectives launched investigations that led to the swift arrest of the suspect. Sithole is expected to appear in court facing a charge of murder.
Mahoko however urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully, warning that acts of violence often result in unnecessary loss of life and severe legal consequences.
