The City of Gweru has suspended 14 municipal police officers and launched an investigation into allegations of misconduct, according to the local authority’s spokesperson, Vimbai Chingwaramusee.

“The City of Gweru has launched an investigation into allegations of misconduct involving a group of municipal police officers,” Chingwaramusee said. “As part of this investigation, 14 officers have been suspended pending the outcome of the inquiry.”

Chingwaramusee stated that the local authority takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and is committed to ensuring that its employees uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

Impeccable sources have added that the alleged misconduct includes taking bribes from vendors and motorists who were violating parking regulations, as well as some officers being charged for absconding from their duty.
