Triangle dominate ERSL 2024 season awards

CHIREDZI-Premier Soccer League returnees, Triangle United FC as widely expected dominated the ZIFA Eastern Region Soccer League Division One awards held last week on Saturday.

The awards which saw Ali Sadiki being crowned Soccer Star of the Year were held at Triangle Country Club with the club representative sin attendance.

The evening’s top honor went to Ali Sadiki from Triangle United who was named the league’s Best Player, while Luke Vahombe Masomere took home the Coach of the Year trophy for leading the team back into the PSL.

Tadiwa Mambudzi from Mutare City Rovers FC was awarded the Golden Boot for his impressive goal-scoring record and Munyaradzi Bakayawo was recognized as the Referee of the Year.

ZIFA CEO Yvonne Manwa praised the sponsors and institutions for their support highlighting the impact of football on the lives of players and their families.

 “I would like to applaud the important role that our sponsors and institutions play in making football a success. These youngsters get a chance to put food on the table for their families through soccer,” said Manwa.

The Best 11 players of the season were also recognized including Benedict Musana (Chiredzi Stars), Clive Madanda (Rusitu Tigers FC), Aldridge Mubango (Buffaloes FC), and Malvern Dumbura (Tenax FC).

Triangle United’s promotion to the Premier Soccer League was the highlight of the evening with coach Luke Masomere expressing his determination to ensure the team’s survival in the top flight.

“My goal is to make the team survive relegation, so we will reshuffle the team to meet the PSL standard” said Masomere.
