-appeals for assistance

STAFF REPORTER

MASVINGO-Senior Masvingo based journalist, Sydney Mubaiwa has lost property worth over $3 000 to a fire that started in the dining room and spread to other rooms while he was away on duty.

The devastating fire tore through his four roomed house in Zaka in a suspected electrical fault from a solar system last week.

The fire reduced most of the property to ashes and left three rooms badly damaged while the roof gave in.

Neighbours battled to douse the flames and managed to take out some foodstuffs and a few electricals including some blankets.

Although no lives were lost, the incident has left him shaken and facing yet another difficult chapter in his life as he lost his father a few months ago.

As a result, Mubaiwa is now appealing to well-wishers for assistance as he begins rebuilding the home.

“Words are not enough to explain the pain that I am going through at the moment.

“Part of my house was damaged by fire while I was away. My brother who stays closer was working in his garden some 200 metres away when the inferno started.

“I was told the fire could have been caused by an electrical fault in the dining room and later spread and damaged the other rooms.

“The window panes were shattered and some of my property including a refrigerator,  sofas , Television, laptop and a speaker were destroyed.”

He added:

“I want to thank my brother, his wife and my  neighbours who did their best to put out the fire. I would like to thank my neighbours for the wonderful job they did,” he said.

He said his relationship with God is now at another level and will always thank him for his protection.

“My relationship with the Almighty is now at a higher level and I can’t thank him enough.  I know he will bless be with something bigger,” he said.

Friends, neighbours and fellow members of the media fraternity have since expressed sympathy following the unfortunate incident.
