MBERENGWA’s  Jame West FC maintained its winning streak while Mbesa FC shines in away matches held on Sunday, September 15, adding three points to their tally.

Mbesa FC faced Midlands FC at Mpumelelo Grounds in Gweru, known as the Phambili Boys, they walloped them by 2-0.

“The game was tough; away matches are always challenging. It was marred by a series of poor officiating from the referees. We managed to score through a brace from Qubani Zondo in the 10th and 38th minutes.

“It was a well-deserved victory as we dominated the entire game. It could have been more if It weren’t for the poor positioning of the referees, who kept calling offside decisions that were never there. Overall, we did well and are focused on the next home game, where we have to deliver,” commented Mbesa FC director Neviel Zunde.

Meanwhile, Mberengwa’s ZIFA Midlands Division 2 Pool A leaders, Jame West FC, faced a tough opponent in Siwawa FC at Gafa Grounds.

The match seemed destined for a draw when Siwawa equalized through a penalty, but the Yellow Metal Boys proved their mettle in the dying minutes, clinching a 2-1 victory.

“We knew Siwawa was very strong and stubborn, and we had to act quickly. Luckily, within 2 minutes, our chief striker Ashley Moyo, aka Mbappe, calmed our racing hearts. Barely 8 minutes later, our opponent was awarded a clear penalty, equalizing the score. The game became tense as both teams strived to dominate,” said Jame West FC coach Ashel Gutu.

“In the second half, I changed my formation from 4-1-2-3 to 3-5-2. This tactical shift helped us stop their midfield supply. We created four chances but failed to convert. Just when we thought we’d lost hope, Panashe Moyo scored a header in the 87th minute to secure a 2-1 win,” recounted joyfully Gutu.

Gutu also praised the cordial relations they maintained with Siwawa players, the technical board, and supporters after the match, emphasizing that soccer is meant for entertainment and for bringing people together.

In other news, Great Dyke FC secretary Rochford Pikanegore announced that their away game against All Stars B was postponed, with a new date to be announced.
