Jame West FC coach Ashel Gutu expressed his team’s determination despite the challenges they faced during the match against 13 Stars FC.

“We are nearing the end of the season, and the game is getting rougher. On Sunday, we played a tricky encounter as our opponents, 13 Stars FC, tried to frustrate our team before the kick-off by refusing to open the gates for us to warm up.

“They finally opened at 1455 hours, and we went straight to the inspection,” he said.

Gutu further said, “As a coach, I told my players to concentrate because it’s just the beginning, and we are going to face more challenges in football. We managed to take the lead through our captain, Tinomutenda Maphosa, in the 16th minute, but 13 Stars FC were awarded a penalty in the 24th minute, which they converted. We ended the first half at 1-1.”

In the second half, Maphosa scored again in the 67th minute, giving Jame West FC the edge and the final 2-1 victory.

Madzipa added, “It’s an amazing feeling we have as a team that our players continue to put us on the map. I appreciate their work ethic and dedication to the team.”

Goalkeeper Tadiwanashe Mugarandoga, who has been recognized for his outstanding performances, stated that, his career started when he was in grade 5 at Musiningira Primary School.

“I wrote my O-level in 2022 and migrated to Zvishavane town, where I met some Jame West FC players and got to join the team.”

Mugarandoga expressed his gratitude for the support and guidance he has received from the Jame West FC board, coaches, and teammates, as he aims to continue his growth and expose his talent to the world of higher football.

As Jame West FC prepares to face their next tough opponent, Shurugwi FC, who are currently second in the league standings, coach Gutu remains confident in his team’s abilities.

“We have many injuries, but the Yellow Metal Boys are about 27 players strong, and I trust any of them can shoot for a win this weekend, as it’s a must-win game for us,” he added.
