MILLICENT HUNGWE
Antony Foroma (48) from Village Foroma under Chief Mukanganwi in Bikita allegedly killed his wife, Chiedza Marapiro (43), with an axe following an argument over infidelity.
According to Masvingo Province ZRP Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, the dispute began on March 15, when Marapiro assaulted Foroma and burnt his clothes as she was accused of cheating on him.
After walking through the village naked, Foroma was given a pair of trousers by a villager.
He then wandered off and didn’t return home until March 17 at around 5am.
The situation escalated when he arrived, seeking revenge and went on to attack Marapiro with an axe as she was on her way to report the incident to Nyika Police Post.
Marapiro suffered a deep cut above her right eye and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Foroma was arrested, while Marapiro’s body was taken to Silveira Mission Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
Inspector Dhewa said, “we urge individuals to seek dialogue through third-party mediators, such as village heads, chiefs, police, or churches, to prevent such tragedies.”
