ZVISHAVANE-As the country join hands in the fight against rampant drug abuse, award winning 14 year old musician popularly known as Herman real name Mukombe Mupelo is walking the talk as he embarks on anti-drug campaign tour through edutainment.
Herman, who is based in Harare held a show for the youths in Zvishavane between grade five and form six at Chiedza Hall, Mandava on March 11 where they were treated to top shelf entertainment for free where the main message was on drug and substance abuse.
The event which was sponsored by Great Dyke events was held under the theme ‘say no to drugs’ with several other performances from local artists and local businessman Mr Bamlo real name Barnabus Marambire among others.
Great Dyke Events director Tupac Chivhanga told the Midweek Watch that Herman is on a tour around the country where he is trying to educate pupils from primary and secondary level to shun drug and substance abuse.
“We are trying to do something that attracts the young, that is why we decided to call Herman for this show. It is a tour where we are trying to fight against this monster called drugs.
“We are targeting a particular group and we believe if the youths are advised well in an entertaining way about the dangers of drugs, the message will easily sink as it will preached by one of their own. We want to make this a culture particularly in Zvishavane as we want to continue with these shows.
“As the Great Dyke we call on the business community, stakeholders, responsible authorities in Zvishavane and the country at large to join hands as we fight against the scourge. We pay tribute to our very own businessman Mr Bamlo for financial assistance which made this show a success,” he said.
