GZU wins big at Presidential Innovation Fair
Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) stole the show at the 2nd edition of the Presidential Innovation Fair held in Harare this week, grabbing the awards for Best Innovating University and Best Innovator in Agriculture.
The awards were presented to the university by President Mnangagwa in Harare recently.
This recognition is a testament to GZU’s groundbreaking agro-innovations for rural industrialization at the Innovation Centre for Dryland Agriculture in Chivi.
The university received $10 000, a trophy, and a certificate for the Best Innovating University award, as well as $5,000, a trophy, and a certificate for the Best Innovator in Agriculture award.
GZU director of communications and public relations Anderson Chipatiso said the accolade is an affirmation of the learning institution’s desire to make life easier for the citizens through innovation.
“This shows that our efforts are not going unrecognised and the highest office in the country is also appreciative of our efforts to change the lives of people for the better through innovation.
“The award would not have been possible without the support of all the stakeholders including our Chancellor, President E.D. Mnangagwa and the community from where we operate from, we pay tribute to all of them,” said Chipatiso.
These accolades showcase GZU’s commitment to excellence in innovation and its ability to provide research products and solutions that cater to the needs of society.
