GZU tees off for underprivileged students

Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) is set to host its inaugural Charity Golf tournament on November 8, 2024, at Masvingo Golf Club, with proceeds going towards a scholarship fund for underprivileged, disabled, yet intelligent students.
Director of Information and Public Relations ยท Great Zimbabwe University Anderson Chipatiso confirmed this to The Midweek Watch.
“We are thrilled to host this tournament, which will help bridge the financial gap for deserving students, scholarships play a pivotal role in empowering bright minds from disadvantaged backgrounds,” said Chipatiso.
Chipatiso confirmed that the university aims to raise US$12,000 from the tournament, which will be awarded as scholarships. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from stakeholders nationwide.
“The response has been encouraging, and we are confident that this initiative will make a significant impact,” he noted.
The tournament offers various participation options, including four-ball teams (US$160) and individual entries (US$40). Hole advertising opportunities are available for US$200, the Midweek Watch learnt.
Chipatiso emphasized the significance of corporate support.
“By partnering with us, businesses can contribute to shaping the futures of Zimbabwe’s brightest young minds, the event promises an exciting day of golf, raffles, auctions, and fun competitions, with numerous prizes up for grabs, registration begins at 7:00 AM, with a prize-giving ceremony scheduled for 6:00 PM,” he emphasized.
