A devastating case of child rape has shaken the community of Gokwe, after an 18-year-old domestic worker, Markwell Machena, was arrested for allegedly raping his employer’s two young daughters.
The victims, aged 6 and 7, were subjected to repeated abuse by Machena, who had been entrusted with their care.
The abuse occurred over a period of three days, from March 28 to 30, 2025, in Machena’s room.
The horrific discovery was made by the girls’ mother, who found them naked in Machena’s room and had seen him leaving the room, said the Midlands province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
Insp Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that the children revealed that they had been raped multiple times by the suspect.
Machena, a resident of Village Machena, Chief Nemangwe, Gokwe South, was promptly arrested and taken into custody.
The police have urged parents and guardians to exercise extreme vigilance when it comes to the safety and well-being of their children, especially when leaving them in the care of others.
