ZHOMBE-A-17-year-old girl has allegedly taken her own life by ingesting rat poison after being accused of stealing US$50 by a neighbour.
Moreblessing Mazani, from Mlotshwa Village under Chief Samambwa in Zhombe, succumbed to the effects of poison on August 17, 2024, around 5 PM.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that the deceased was at home with her mother when their neighbour, Beauty Sinyoro, confronted her with theft allegation.
Insp Mahoko stated that Mazani denied the theft and subsequently ingested rat poison.
She was later found lying on the ground at the gate, with froth coming from her mouth and nose.
Efforts to save her life were unfortunately unsuccessful, added Insp Mahoko.
