A dark cloud has covered the soccer fraternity in the country. The death of Rahman Gumbo is really a big blow to his family and all football fans, players, coaches and the country as a whole.
Dedicated, disciplined and talented are a few words that I can use to describe Rahman. One of the players who was a marvel to watch both in the black and white jersey and the national team colours. One of the most successful sportspersons both as a player and coach.
One of the players who inspired me during my playing time as a junior and also during my playing time at Zimbabwe Saints and Masvingo Utd. Was a cool guy on and off the pitch.
His young brother Nkosana used to remind me of Rahman every time when Zimbabwe Saints FC played Amazulu FC back in 1997 and 1998. I think the warriors should give him a well deserved send off by winning against Rwanda on the today, in Rwanda.
Rest in peace, my icon, brother and mentor.
