MASVINGO- FC Wangu Mazodze has extended its heartfelt condolences to one of its staunch supporters, Kumbirai Kanda aka Baba Taku who died when the team bus was involved in an accident in Chipinge last Sunday.
Chipinge supporters chapter chairperson, Zivanai Nyakuchena who is also town council chairman will lead the burial proceedings as Baba Taku was from the farming town.
FC Wangu Mazodze bus was ferrying its supporters to Chimanimani on Sunday for a match against Rusitu FC that afternoon at Chirombo Stadium when it plunged into Makondo River killing Baba Taku on the spot.
Baba Taku will be buried today (May 09) at Mutsvangwa Village under Chief Ndima in Chimanimani at Kanda Homestead.
Kanda was from Rusitu and had joined the rest of the team in Chipinge Town on the fateful day.
In their message of condolences FC Wangu Mazodze commended the deceased for his unwavering support and extended their heartfelt condolences to the Kanda family.
“FC Wangu Mazodze wishes to advise of the untimely death of Kumbirai Kanda, one of our valued supporter, in a tragic accident that occurred yesterday. As FC Wangu Mazodze we wish to express our deepest condolences to the Kanda family. We will always remember him for his sacrifices he made to support The Kingdom Boys.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kanda family during this difficult time. May his dear soul rest in eternal peace! Our Chipinge Chapter Chairman, who is also Chipinge Mayor Nyakuchena will lead the Zhalala Zhululu delegation to the funeral,” reads the letter.
Kanda is survived by his wife and one child.
