MIDLANDS – Four time Premier Soccer League Champions FC Platinum will seek to collect their first silverware for the season on Friday as they take on Simba Bhora FC in the prestigious Uhuru Cup.

The trophy has previously been more of Dynamos and Highlanders affair, but with the new dispensation in charge other teams are starting to participate in the Independence Cup.
Dynamos are the holders of the cup having won it last year in Murambinda, Buhera where the main celebrations were held. This year the cup is being played at Nembudziya in Gokwe, the Midlands Province.
Simba Bhora, who are the current Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions are claiming that the cup ‘Chinhu Chedu’ will seek to continue their reach form after thumping Manica Diamonds 4-1 in their last encounter.
The form is with the Shamva based side who have a 60% win rate in their five matches they have played having won three, drawn one and lost one meanwhile FC Platinum has a 20% win rate having won one and drawn five in as many matches.
The two teams have played five matches with the Zvishavane based side winning three matches, losing one and drawing one, scoring six goals at an average of 1.2 goals per match and conceding three goals in the process.
Coach Norman Mapeza is aware of the task ahead as from there his team has a high profile match against new moneybags Scottland FC on Easter Monday.
