GOKWE -Midlands Police say they have arrested Thomas Muzenda (38) from Village 17 Mupukuta under Chief Chireya in Gokwe North for allegedly killing his 2-year-old daughter for ritual purposes.
Midlands Province Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the sad incident that occurred sometime in January this year where Muzenda allegedly removed her daughter’s heart before dumping her body in a disused mine.
Insp Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that Muzenda who has since divorced his wife, was staying with his two year-old daughter when he approached a traditional healer identified as Dhumba to boost his mining business.
While at the traditional healer who is still at large, Muzenda was told to sacrifice one of his children.
“Muzenda, on an unknown date in January 2023 is alleged to have killed his 2 year old daughter, removed her heart and threw the body into a disused mine,” he said.
Mahoko added that the matter came to light when the deceased’s maternal grandmother went to the suspect’s homestead to enquire about her granddaughter but was not given a satisfactory answer.
She then made a report to the police that led to investigations and arrest of Muzenda.
Mahoko appealed to members of the public with information which may assist in the investigation and arrest of Dhumba to approach any police station.
