MASVINGO CITY-History making ex-Masvingo City first female Mayor, Shantiele Chiwara who was recently stripped of her title after being recalled by purported CCC interim secretary general, Sengezo Tshabangu successfully filed her nomination papers to run for Ward 2 council by-election today.

Youthful Chiwara told The Midweek Watch that she is happy that she filed her nomination papers successfully under the CCC which is led by Nelson Chamisa.

“I am very happy that I filed my nomination as a candidate for CCC that is led by Adv Chamisa for by-elections that are going to be held next month”, said Chiwara.

She added that “I am just hoping for the best and for the supporters who once voted for me in August, I believe they will just make the right decision so that we go ahead with what we had planned as the council”.

Other candidates that successfully filed their nomination papers are Roki Kamuzonda under CCC, Frank Chirairo, Independent and Benson Hwata under ZANU PF.

In August, Chirairo and Kamuzondo withdrew their nominations which they had filed under CCC in the same ward and this may explain the controversial recall of Chiwara by Tshabangu.
