MBERENGWA- Former Cop, Achiford Gamunorwa of Northwood Suburb has opened a state of the art Skyz Highway Shopping Mall at Mberengwa Business Centre recently.
Gamunorwa who worked in the security sector for 25 years is now the talk of the town after the opening of the world class mall which attracted tens of people on the official opening day who showered praises on brave businessman.
The Mberengwa business community, residents, family and friends came in numbers to support Gamunorwa on his joyous occasion. Among local leadership who attended the historic event was Chief Bvute and Mberengwa District Development Coordinator, Vafios Hlavati.
The shopping mall which took five years to complete has three entrances and is strategically located along the Zvishavane Highway and is suitable for all types of retail businesses like banks, restaurants, grocery shops, coffee shops, night clubs, just to mention but a few.
The Sixty five year old Gamunorwa was born in Bocha, Mutare District in Manicaland Province. He attended Mutimba Primary and proceeded to Marange High for his secondary education.
He once worked at LM Mathinuisen 44 Douglas Road until 1984. In 1985 he joined the Zimbabwe Republic Police and was posted to Gokwe, in 1994 he was transferred to Kwekwe Rural, in 1996 Redcliff Town, in 2002 Zhombe area and in 2004 he was posted to Mberengwa where he started a small business at B Mine before he was pensioned 2010.
The retired officer continued his dream of becoming a businessman to reckon with by building some shops like Chapter 2 Bar and Shop, Donhodzo Night club which was officially opened by Alick ‘Extra Basso’ Macheso, Northwood Bar and Shop in 2018.
“I am self-motivated actor and I did this so that at least I leave my family with something after I am gone to the next world. My family also took it upon themselves to assist me in seeing my dream come true.
“I appreciate that I have a very supportive wife and two sons who are already married. I am blessed with six grandchildren,” said Gamunorwa.
