As the festive season is upon us, the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) have joined forces to launch a road safety awareness campaign themed “Normal Speed Meets Every Need,” aims to promote responsible driving habits and reduce road accidents.

The campaign’s primary objective is to educate drivers on the importance of adhering to speed limits and adopting safe driving practices.

According to EMA spokesperson Amkela Sidange, this is not the first time EMA has partnered TSCZ as it has billboards with environmental messages on some major highways.

More so, this festive season EMA has joined hands in making sure that environmental and road safety information gets to the travelers all over the country.

“The Agency has in partnership with TSCZ produced publicity and promotional material to be distributed to travelers during the educational blocks along major highways.

“The clear message from the agency to travelers is to adopt green traveling practices to reduce ecological footprint of their journeys, these include placing litter in bins provided in public vehicles,” said Sidange.

Throwing litter through car windows is a punishable offence in Zimbabwe.

EMA and TSCZ are urging drivers to exercise caution and be responsible on the roads, especially during the festive season when there is an increase in traffic volume.

“EMA and TSCZ are appealing to all road users to join forces in promoting road safety and reducing accidents. By working together, we can make Zimbabwe’s roads safer for everyone,” she added.
