Dube murder case in disarray

GWERU-The high-profile murder case against Peter Dube is in jeopardy after two key state witnesses failed to appear in court.

Nyasha Nharingo and Kayla Tadiwa Nharingo, who were eyewitnesses to the alleged crimes, have been issued arrest warrants by Justice Munamato Mutevedzi.

According to the court papers, Nyasha, who is customarily married to Dube, claims her husband brandished a pistol and pointed it at her face before firing and hit her right cheek, causing her to lose consciousness.

Kayla also alleges that Dube was armed with a gun, and she witnessed him shooting and killing Gamuchirai Mudungwe and Shelton Chiduku at the Benson Flats.

Fearing for her life, Kayla says she hid under the basement toilet and later heard two more gunshots before Dube fled the scene.

Dube, who has feigned mental illness during court appearances, has denied committing the offenses.

It is the state case that Dube, who was arrested at the Robert Mugabe Airport in Harare after being deported from Mozambique, shot and killed Chiduku and Mudungwe on April 22, 2021.

The state alleges that Dube accused Chiduku of being in a romantic relationship with his wife, Nyasha, and Mudungwe of helping his wife find a boyfriend.

After the double killing, Dube allegedly shot Nyasha in the cheek and neck, and also shot Nyaradzo Nharingo above the right ear before fleeing the scene.

Midlands Provincial Prosecutor Samuel Pedzisayi is representing the state in the case.
