Dr. Masinire retains ZIMA presidency

HARARE-The Zimbabwe Medical Association (ZIMA) recently concluded a highly successful AGM and symposium, drawing in more than 400 medical professionals and exhibitors.

The event, held under the theme “Towards Strengthening Healthcare Systems in Zimbabwe,” featured a diverse range of exhibitors who included Minerva, Econet Wireless, Nyaradzo Group, MIC Radiology, and DMC Health among others.

During the conference, Dr. Kudzai Masinire who is the Masvingo Province deputy provincial medical director was re-elected as the president of ZIMA.

The discussions at the meeting revolved around crucial health issues and strategies to enhance the welfare of healthcare practitioners.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Masinire reassured attendees of his commitment pledging “to continue working towards building a vibrant organization.”

One of the key topics addressed during the meeting was the alarming rate of occupational hazards affecting healthcare workers, including diseases like tuberculosis, mercury poisoning, silicosis, and injuries prevalent among artisanal miners.

 Additionally, delegates expressed concerns regarding overregulation and its potential adverse effects on the growth of medical practice in the country.

The AGM and symposium saw medical professionals engaging in meaningful discussions, share insights, and collaborate on ways to address challenges within the healthcare sector.
