MILLICENT HUNGWE
Denlord Chimuka (8), who has been confined to a wheelchair since birth due to a debilitating heart condition, has received a significant boost following a US$9,000 donation raised through the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) and other partners.

Denlord’s mother, Barbra Chimuka, expressed her deepest gratitude for the generous contribution, which brings them one step closer to securing life-saving heart surgery for her ailing son in India.
However, speaking with The Midweek Watch, she is further appealing for the remaining US$6,000 for the whole surgery to be done abroad.
“We have paid the US$9 000 that we got through ZBC appeals directly to the Indian hospital, and we are now pleading for the remaining balance of US$6 000,” Barbra Chimuka said, her voice filled with hope and determination.
“We are counting on the kindness of well-wishers to help us raise the remaining funds,” she said.
Denlord is unable to talk or walk, and is experiencing breathing difficulties hence the required specialist medical treatment which can only be obtained in India at a cost of US15 000.
She said that the situation is dire and it is getting worse every day.
“We are appealing to those who can assist because the situation is now very urgent, the boy is deteriorating every day and if we can get the money we would be very grateful,” said Chimuka.
Sally Mugabe Hospital doctors recommended him to get treatment at BLK Max Hospital in India which is renowned for its excellence in medical care.
The hospital has provided a comprehensive breakdown of expenses to facilitate Denlord’s treatment and travel plans.
