MASVINGO CITY-The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) has given the green light to GTS Petroleum for the construction of a service station in Masvingo City after Mucheke Bridge.

EMA issued an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) license on March 5, 2025.
The EMA Masvingo provincial manager Milton Muusha confirmed to The Midweek Watch that the license was granted following the submission of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report by GTS Petroleum, which included an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) outlining measures to mitigate potential environmental impacts associated with the development.
“They were issued an EIA license by EMA on 5 March 2025. This was after they had submitted their Environmental and Social Impact Assessment report, which included an Environmental Management Plan for the development,” said Muusha.
He added the EIA license is a critical regulatory requirement for the construction of the service station, and its issuance paves the way for GTS Petroleum to commence work on the project.
With the EIA license in hand, GTS Petroleum is now proceeding with the construction of the service station which EMA had stopped due to failure to meet the environmental regulatory requirements.
