A road traffic accident that occurred on March 23 at around 4am along Roy-Chiredzi road resulted in the death of John Chinyoka (29).
The incident was confirmed by the Masvingo Province ZRP spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa.
According to eyewitnesses, Chinyoka was walking home from Rudhanda Business Centre in Zaka and crossing the road when was struck by an unknown vehicle, which fled the scene.
Chinyoka, a resident of Village Mawadze under Chief Bota in Zaka, sustained severe head injuries and multiple wounds all over his body.
A nearby resident heard the sound of the accident and discovered Chinyoka’s lifeless body on the road.
The police were immediately notified and attended the scene and transferred the body to Musiso Mission Hospital Mortuary.
Inspector Dhewa urged drivers to be vigilant and to stop and render first aid to injured individuals in the event of an accident.
