Zvishavane-Dendera music sensation Sulumani Chimbetu is set to light up Zvishavane this weekend as the headline performer at the annual Makweva Tournament, an event held at the newly established Makweva Primary School in Runde.

The tournament, more than just a sporting event aims to steer young people away from self-destructive habits such as drug abuse and prostitution while promoting productive use of their time and delivering entertainment to rural communities.
Looking ahead, the tournament’s long term vision includes setting up sports academies in rural areas, certifying all coaches involved, training sports administrators and introducing diverse sporting disciplines such as cricket and tennis.
Organisers also aim to equip youths with entrepreneurial skills to run sustainable revenue-generating projects alongside their football clubs.
Tournament Manager Patrick Nhongo confirmed saying, “Lloyd Chigowe will be the guest of honour, with government officials including Minister Moyo from the education sector expected to attend.”
Speaking ahead of his performance, Sulumani Chimbetu assured fans of a memorable show.
“We are descending on Zvishavane and, like always, we will deliver what we know best. We promise the best of Dendera music and are adequately prepared. We will also be performing songs from our new album, Tsapo.”
The Makweva Tournament continues to grow not just as a sporting fixture but as a powerful platform for youth development and rural empowerment through sport and music.
