CRSL top scorer turns down Gamecocks advances

MIDLANDS-Ruvimbo Funeral ZIFA Central Region Soccer League top goal scorer and TelOne FC forward, Blessing Sibanda has turned down an offer from former Premiership champions Chicken lnn FC to join them next season preferring to stay put at the club that helped to gain promotion into the elite league.

Sibanda revealed this on Saturday at Nichrut Lodge where he was receiving his awards for being the top goal scorer, one of the best 11 and second runners up for 2023 season.

He got $200 for the top scorer award, $150 for making it into the best 11 and another $200 for being the second runner up.

Sibanda banged in 13 goals this season which helped his side to gain promotion into the top flight league.

Speaking to The Midweek Watch, Sibanda said he is happy at TelOne and is looking forward to helping his team compete for honors in the Castle Lager Premier League next season.

“Firstly, l am excited with the awards I received tonight, some of them came as a surprise and I feel very motivated to do more at the end of the season.

“A number of PSL clubs have approached me wanting me to join them, my former club Chicken Inn is one of the clubs which have been chasing for my signature.

“However, I told them I am happy here at TelOne. TelOne is my home team and in terms of my future, everything looks bright as the club is well organised. I am happy here and I want to help my team do well in the premiership,” he said.

The two Blessings in Sibanda and Sahondo have been a revelation at TelOne as they scored 25 goals of the 58 that the WiFi Boys banged.
