Midlands Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
“Police are currently looking at the circumstances where a woman was attacked while fetching water at a nearby dam.” Mahoko said.
Circumstances are that, Gumbo went to fetch water in the morning at around 11am while Adrine Moyo her husband,( 50) had gone to collect firewood. Upon return Moyo found that his wife had not yet come back from the dam.
He went on to look for her at the dam where he met with local villagers who expressed concern over Gumbo’s missing and possibility of having being attacked by a crocodile.
Moyo together with some of the villagers searched for Gumbo and her dead body was found with multiple wounds consistent with crocodile attack.
The now deceased had sustained severe injuries, including a fractured right leg and multiple bite wounds on her thigh.
