Shock and pain has swept through Mwele High School in Insiza District, Mat South Province and its surrounding community after the brutal rape and murder of student teacher, Adpelert Zhou (24) recently.
ZRP Matebeleland South Province Acting Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Stanford Mguni confirmed the incident.
On March 21, Zhou was escorting her friend, Shamiso Madanire, to the bus stop around 5 pm from the school.
As she was walking back to the school, Zhou met her fate as she was raped and murdered by unknown criminals.
One of the teachers who spoke to The Midweek Watch said they are now living in fear of the criminals as they have not been accounted for and no one knows their next move as they may pounce again.
“We are in shock and living in fear as these people may target school children and teachers as well hence we are demanding justice as soon as possible,” said the teacher on condition of anonymity as they are not allowed to speak to the press.
Her lifeless body was discovered the next day by a fellow teacher on the roadside, without her skirt and bearing signs of being stabbed with a sharp object.
Mguni said they are appealing to members of the public with information about the criminals to come forward and assist the police in apprehending of the suspects.
