ZVISHAVANE – Harare based City Academy claimed the inaugural Mambo Jephitar Foundation Founders Cup for under 14s.
The eight team tourney was held at Gresham grounds on Sunday.
The thrust of the tournament was to help in spreading the anti-drugs and substance abuse message in the small mining town which of late has become rampant.
Seven Zvishavane Soccer Academies participated; Ezinkulu, MJ, Pams, Geras, Firehouse, Top Knotch and Mhondongori.
However, they were taught a huge lesson by the Harare Academy who beat MJ academy 4-0, Geras 3-0, Mhondongori 7-0.
They advanced to the semifinals and defeated Firehouse 6-0 before dispatching Pams Academy 5-0 in the final.
Speaking to the Midweek Watch Mambo Jephitar Foundation Founder Jephitar said at the end football won as the tournament was a success.
“The main thrust of the tournament was to spread the message and it was successful, despite the scorelines football won”, he said.
