MASVINGO – ZRP Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Masvingo and Chiredzi Women’s Network has donated an assortment of goods to Zimcare Trust, Alfred Walter Hostel in Mucheke, Masvingo City.

The donated goods included mixed groceries with both toiletries and foodstuffs.

Detective Chief Inspector Hazvinei Jindu, the chairperson for the Masvingo-Chiredzi Women’s Network told The Midweek Watch that this was their first time to donate to Alfred Walter Hostels and urged well wishers to extend a helping hand to the home.

“This is our first time donating at Zimcare which is in Mucheke as a network and we have donated the little that we have as a Christmas present so that we put a smile on their faces”, said Jindu.

“By this initiative, I know we have provoked a lot of hearts that want to continue doing more and supporting these children for they are just innocent souls but as a network, we encourage everyone around Masvingo and Zimbabwe at large to help because they are in dire need and they depend solely on us as a nation”.

She went on to say that as a network they are mandated to do social corporate responsibility and they are going to make sure that they increase their projects so as to facilitate more donations since there is a lot of work that needs to be done.

Sister in Charge at Alfred Walter Hostel, Zimcare Trust Masvingo, Eusebia Choruma said that as an institution they really need help from all well-wishers so that they are able to take care of the children so that they feel at home.

“As an institution, we really need the help so that we are able to take care of the children we have. For now, we need food and detergents so that we are able to keep them in a clean environment during this time of cholera outbreak”, said Sister Choruma.

The institution has 135 children who are mentally retarded.
