Chivhu FC in make-or-break tie

Date:

CHIKOMBA – Chivhu FC will take on Magamba Fc in a make-or-break encounter away at Magamba Stadium in the ZIFA Mashonaland East Division Two League encounter.

The last match of the season dubbed “The Battle for Chikomba Part 2” will be the decider as to whether Chivhu FC will be promoted to the second tier of Zimbabwean football, ZIFA Eastern Region Division One or they stay yet another season in Division Two.

Chivhu FC is currently sitting in second position with 29 points, three points behind Goromonzi-based Rusununguko FC, who are at the summit of the lo table with 32 points, having played all their games.

Chivhu FC faces a must win situation to be able to pip Rusununguko from the summit on a superior goal difference.

Speaking to The Midweek Watch, Chivhu FC coach, Henry Zindoga, described the match as a tricky one but insisted that he has hope in his team that they will clinch the top spot.

“This game is very tricky because it’s a derby and a must win for us. I have talked to my guys and we have to make it this time. I have already told my guys to put on a good show on the match day to make sure we get promoted to Division One next season,” said Zindoga.

Magamba coach, Terence Mandizadza said he was expecting a good game from Chivhu FC and hopes to end the season high.

“We are expecting a good game from Chivhu FC. We hope there will be many fans who will come to watch the derby,” said Mandizadza.

In the first leg, Chivhu FC lost “The Battle for Chikomba Part One”, 1-0 at home to their local rivalries.

The league has had its challenges with teams like Auto-Beatrice, Calvary, Laita Power, St Lucy, Orangeview and Kotwa United being banished from the competition due to failure to pay affiliation fees.
