MASVINGO RURAL-The much awaited installation of Chief Mugabe (real name Matubede Mudavanhu) who has been in an acting capacity since 2009 has been moved from 4 to 6 April next week on Thursday.
Masvingo District Development Coordinator, Roy Hove confirmed the latest development to The Midweek Watch in a telephone conversation without giving details as he said he was not in his office.
“Yes, we have received a letter confirming the new installation dates for Chief Mugabe and preparations are already underway, you can call me tomorrow for more details as I am not in the office at the moment,” said Hove.
The installation of Chief Mugabe will be held at Chikarudzo under Village Head Mudavanhu next week on Thursday and Vice President Chiwengwa is expected to be the guest of honor.
“Most traditional leaders from Masvingo Province and Government departments heads have confirmed their attendance to the grand occasion.
“We are also expecting chiefs from other provinces since the man is a teacher and is well known throughout the country, with many friends and associates as well.
“The Vice President will be the guest of honor on the occasion and he will be accompanied by senior government officials,” said an aide to Chief Mugabe.
The Midweek Watch is reliably informed that preparations for the historic occasion are at an advanced stage as the ceremonial brew is almost ready and the homestead has been spruced up to fit the occasion.
