CHIREDZI- Three unidentified robbers are on the run after they broke into a Chiredzi home, assaulted the owner to death and went away with the family’s vehicle, US$800 cash and other valuables.
Masvingo Province ZRP spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the sad incident and said a manhunt for the three suspects has been launched.
The now deceased, Hillary Bvocho (37) was allegedly murdered on 25 March in Chiredzi after the three unknown thieves broke into his house armed, demanding cash and valuables.
Inspector Dhewa told The Mid-week Watch that at around 1am Bvocho was asleep with his wife when they heard a loud bang from outside.
Bvocho woke up to check where the noise was coming from and found three male adults whom he failed to identify in his dining room.
The thieves started beating him with a log demanding cash and forced him back into his bedroom.
They continued to assault him thoroughly while forcing Bvocho’s wife to face downwards.
Inspector Dhewa said Bvocho and his wife later surrendered US$800 and the thieves took phones and car keys which they used as their getaway vehicle.
Before the thieves left they hit Bvocho twice on the head with a sharp object which led to his death.
The three thieves then vanished into the night.
Dhewa went on to plead with the public if there is anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the three thieves to report to any Police station as investigations are currently in progress.
