KWEKWE—A 31-year-old man was sentenced to 75 years in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing four boys and raping a 9-year-old girl in Mbizo over a five-month period.
Rangarirai Blessing Mutangi lured children aged 9 to 12 to his home separately, showed them pornographic videos, and forced them into sexual contact, Provincial Magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa heard during the trial.
“The defendant preyed on children in his own community,” Public Prosecutor Daraja Mitchel said before sentencing.
The abuse came to light on April 19 when two victims disclosed the assaults after Mutangi refused to give them a bicycle pump.
Mutangi was charged with aggravated indecent assault and rape.
All five victims live in the Mbizo area, where Mutangi resided.
Magistrate Mugwagwa handed down the 75-year sentence following a full trial.
