-businessman Chibwe donates to school

GUTU-Chagwiza Primary School in ward 31, Gutu South recently held a highly successful life changing careers day, drawing 19 exhibitors from local specialists who shared their experiences and knowledge with learners.
The event aimed to provide learners with diverse career options, challenging the stigma associated with non-formal jobs.
Guest of honour Calvin Chibwe, a local businessman and founder of Smart Kids Early Childhood Development School, encouraged students to draw inspiration from their community and family.
“As you navigate your career journey, draw inspiration from your community, your family, and your own heart,” said Chibwe.
Exhibitors were drawn from various fields, including art and craft, agriculture, pottery, priesthood, building, carpentry, mechanics, information communication technology, signwriting, education, media, retailers, welding, driving, and tailoring. The ZRP and hairdressing specialists also participated.
Ward 31 councilor, Simbarashe Mutiva praised the initiative, saying it provided “practical testimonies” on thriving outside formal employment.
“I hope this initiative will be replicated across the country as it is effective and low-cost,” added Mutiva.
The school head, Tobaiwa Musendekwa thanked exhibitors for their participation which inspired the young learners.
Chibwe went on to donate a pig and cement towards the school’s piggery project.
This innovative careers day aligns with promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, by showcasing local career pathways as Chagwiza Primary School is inspiring students to explore opportunities beyond traditional employment said a parent who attended the novel event.
