In a show of unity and national resolve, ZRP Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba on Monday ministers, senior security service officials, government representatives, corporate partners, and members of the public in a major anti-drug and substance abuse campaign in Harare.

The national campaign, spearheaded by the First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa, and coordinated by the Cabinet National Committee on Drug and Substance Abuse led by Minister of Defence, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, brought together stakeholders from all walks of life to stand against the rising threat of drugs in society.

The procession, which attracted hundreds of participants, began at the symbolic Mbuya Nehanda Statue and moved along Samora Machel Avenue, culminating in a powerful gathering at Stodart Hall in Mbare.

According to ZRP National Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the march was a demonstration of collective commitment to ending drug and substance abuse, particularly among the youth.

Addressing the gathered crowd at Stodart Hall, Deputy Commissioner-General of Police (Crime and Operations), Learn Ncube, emphasized their readiness to support the campaign through intensified enforcement, community engagement, and partnerships.

He warned drug peddlers and traffickers that law enforcement agencies are on high alert and will not hesitate to bring offenders to justice.

The event highlighted the Government’s whole-of-society approach to addressing drug and substance abuse, in line with national strategies to promote health, safety, and productivity.

Stakeholders echoed a common call for sustainable solutions, increased rehabilitation support, and the empowerment of young people through education and economic opportunities.

The campaign marks another milestone in Zimbabwe’s efforts to protect its future generations and build a drug-free society through unity, awareness, and decisive action.
