CHIVI-In Village of Mhikuro under Herdman Musvuugwa in Chivi, a young couple’s life unraveled in a matter of hours when Logic Dzingai (25), stumbled upon love messages on her husband Mercedes Maguudze’s phone, sparking a heated argument on March 30 around 6am.
ZRP Masvingo Province Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident.
The dispute escalated, and Maguudze stormed out, returning hours later with a sinister intent.
Around 9am, he revealed to his wife that he planned to end his life, consuming a suspected rat poison he had purchased from the Growth Point shops.
Maguudze began to vomit.
Dzingai quickly hired a taxi, rushing him to Chivi District Hospital.
Despite efforts to save him, Maguudze succumbed to the poison around 1pm.
Police arrived at the scene, and the body was taken to Chivi District Mortuary pending a post-mortem.
Dhewa urged the public to seek counseling in times of crisis, valuing life above all.
