The Catholic Youth Association of St Peter and Paul Parish have embarked on a detergent making business to generate income for their organisation.

Six youths at St Peter and Paul Parish successfully completed  a training of  trainers course and are expected to roll out the training to other youths at the Parish and Masvingo Diocese.

Tanaka Zhou, chairperson of  the association told The Midweek Watch that the establishment of the detergent making was part of the church’s initiative of availing income generating projects for the youths at the Parish.

He said the project will not only sustain the association’s activities which require financial needs, but will also benefit youths in the Diocese to venture into their own personal businesses.

“Six of our youths who attend St Peter and Paul Parish successfully completed training in detergent making.

“These trainers will also train other youths not only those who attend St Peter and Paul, but also other parishes around Masvingo Diocese,

“Our doors are even open to other individuals who might need the skills but we will offer the training for a fee,” he said.

The team currently is making dishwashing liquid which they named Sparkle Dish and is currently in stock at the St Paul and Peter bookshop along Emmerson Mnangagwa Street.

He said the association is anticipating to supply major retail shops in the city and beyond with the dish washer.

“Currently we are only making dish washing liquid but we intent to add different types in future,” he said.

The association has also embarked on a rigorous marketing program targeting all catholic churches and schools to support the initiative.
