As the world is reeling under the Trump mania and seeking ways to pacify him; do we deserve this treatment from one country? Firstly Trump, created the Department of Governance Efficiency (DOGE).
Its mission statement is to avoid wasteful expenditures from the federal bank balance sheet. First to moan as always, were third world leaders and Europe. Europe’s death bed wish is for America not to abandon it with its nuclear umbrellas (let’s call it “military industrial complex”).
Europe and Africa got very comfortable in the American’s guest house. They forgot that anytime Donald Trump would come back and spoil their meals. Africa’s health system depended on United States AID. All its malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDs programs were funded by Uncle Sam. We got relaxed like the relatives of the bride. Thinking nothing for the future of the generations to come. De-investing in hospital facilities, showing less enthusiasm in creating our own vaccines, medications and weaponry.
America and Europe were preaching democracy, human rights, freedom of speech, LGBTQ+ rights, free trade, anti-communism and socialism. And the third world leaders competed against each other on meeting those goals. My idol the late Robert G. Mugabe, tried it in the 1990s, through the Economic Structural Adjustment Program (ESAP). “Mhaihweee, kwaiva kutuma bofu kunomema hunza”. His government was just chasing waterfalls, it cut the government expenditures in health, education, the civil servants bill was cut( meaning unemployment, and poverty), prices of goods were no longer regulated by the government but by market demands.
That was how Zimbabwe began its journey into oblivion, and we are still stuck today into that abyss. Some free minds blame corruption and inefficiency on Zimbabwe’s demise. Now it is clear that those Western ideologies were fed upon us to make us slaves. Despite Zimbabwe, being a cotton producer, all our clothes are mainly from the Beira corridor. Power Sales has closed doors some two years ago because of the dumping of second hand clothes to Africa from Europe.
That is what the Western world called free trade. Our industries are closing on a mammoth scale because of it. Now Donald Trump and his fringe inner circle are giving every country it’s desired and suitable tariffs. Zimbabwe was given tariffs last week, and said ” Nkosi, we are grateful for what you have decided and here is another side of our cheek to finish off” (Tiri vadiki hatina nharo nemi.” ) What a pity? I am just imagining Baba Bona retaliating back at the gay gangsters! His Jesuit Fathers’ intellectual prowess he received at Kutama College would have made my day. I am missing you Gushungo, Rest in Peace.
Why countries in the world are trying to befriend Trump instead of fighting back. Europe and Africa can make a Broederbond against America. Europe and Africa, put your past and make sure you pass through this hurdle. Britain had been stupid enough to leave Zimbabwe on America’s arbitrary whims. “Zimbabwe doesn’t meet the Democratic guidelines”. Which guidelines, you tell us Uncle Sam? Cutting off people’s supply of medication without notice is what Caucasians call “Cancel Culture”.
You change things which were set as guard rails of stability and life savers. Right now Donald Trump is settling old scores with his enemies, something very African in nature. He is targeting companies and individuals who are not friendly to him. Mark Zuckerberg after banning Trump on Facebook in 2021 thereabouts, was the first to donate millions, after quickly realizing that the limping horse was back in the District of Columbia.
All those controversial figures jailed for breaking into the Capitol Hill are almost all free, African style leadership par excellence, Cancel Culture. Trump doesn’t like any dissenting voices, now typical of both Africa and the Middle East. His DOGE employee, Marko Elez (25 years old) was suspended from duty for posting racist remarks on X ( Twitter), but Elon Musk and JD Vance want him reinstated. Typical African leadership, as long as you support us, you are always right. All the facades that Trump blamed former president Joe Biden of, are now his green book.
His friends, Trump’s, have their set of rules different from all other animals. Lawyers are forced to drop cases against his boys. And if you are not MAGA (Make America Great Again), you don’t belong. All these are case studies of Cancel Culture, typical of African dictators but now guys from the Statue of Liberty are now exercising this with a killer instinct. The world let Adolf Hitler rose from the same hubris l am noticing from Donald Trump. Fear, admiration and extinction wanna visit a certain race, but Africa is my bet. Africa link with Europe if you want an umbrella. Trump is using force to get what he wants.
Currently Africa is clueless and direction less, ‘baba vangu Shumba, saka munoda kudiiko?’ (what do you expect from this chaos? You want Cecil John Rhodes to come to your rescue? As a balanced writer, l like Donald Trump, the late Richard Nixon and Robert Mugabe. I adore their asymmetric approach to world affairs, “Cancel Culture”, very unpredictable and dangerous. They don’t copy and paste, they create content, scripts and hard core news.
