MIDWEEK REPORTER

WEIRD things never cease to happen! Four brave armed robbers stole US$400 cash from a claypot kept in a thatched hut in the leafy suburb of Murambi in Mutare.

The shocking incident happened at house number 5592 Murambi East on February 10 at around 9pm according to Manicaland Police public relations officer, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka.

Chinyoka told The Midweek Watch that the complainant, Ellen Chifamba (39) parked her vehicle in the garage at around 9pm and proceeded to her house when four men jumped into her yard, one with an unidentified rifle, the other with a machete while two others remained on guard at the door.

The two demanded cash from Chifamba and she told them to get the money from a claypot which was being kept in a thatched hut in the garden.

The robbers, without any hesitation proceeded to steal the money and came back to Chifamba’s bedroom where they demanded cellphones and they were handed two Samsung phones and they disappeared into the night.

The robber stole cash and property worth US$850 and they are still at large.

Nothing has been recovered so far and Police is appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
