Black mamba invades Chaka DDF compound

Date:

Chaka District Development Fund (RIDA) premises are a haven of dangerous snakes. The offices are situated near a small kopje.

And they are endowed with thick forests, as there is less destruction of the flora. The workers who stay at the station include the veterinary officers, Agritex workers, and DDF/ RIDA employees.

These staffers lose a lot of poultry nearly every day as a result of black mambas that kill their chickens.

Yesterday at around 14:00 hrs, a black mamba nearly 1.90 cm was on its routine reconnaissance mission, when an alert DDF employee saw it. He then called other staff member for the rescue. Biblically it is noted that “man and snake will become eternal enemies.”

God instructed the man to strike the snake’s head and for the snake to hit the ankle of man.

The black mamba has that instinct of sensing danger, even without seeing anything. It also behaves like a duiker, its tail remains restless for impending danger.

The mamba then found refuge under a broken water bowser. The bowser was to be towed away by a tractor, and finally the mamba was exposed. It tried all its tricks to fight back but the staffers with the help of passerby resisted its war cry. Some were throwing stones, and the less fearful were close to it, hitting it with logs. Within twenty minutes the game was over. The mamba was subtracted from mother earth.
