-schools to be self reliant to ease burden on parents
MASVINGO – The newly installed Roman Catholic Church Diocese of Masvingo, Right Reverend Bishop Raymond Mupandasekwa is set to revoultionise the way of worshiping with the introduction of modern musical instruments.
Bishop Mupandasekwa said this when he visited St Theresa Rujeko Parish during last week’s Sunday mass.
“As a Diocese we are going to introduce and endorse the use of modern musical instruments like guitars during church services so that we move with the dynamics of the Church and how everything is evolving around the world,” said Bishop Mupandasekwa.
Roman Catholic Church is known for the use of the traditional drum during church service and this is set be a thing of the past if the proposed changes are effected as it would be like most Pentecostal churches.
Apart from announcing the new changes, the Bishop added that there is need to revive the Diocese’s two farms located at Gokomere and Mukaro missions such that they become productive and supply all Catholic run boarding schools with food.
Gokomere Mission used to be a hub of innovation with a thriving farm which supplied the school’s kitchen and mechanical workshop for vehicles and other repairs by students.
This will go long way in reducing the fees burden paid by parents and guardians to the schools as most of the consumables will be sourced at cost.
“We want to resuscitate Gokomere and Mukaro Mission farms so that they create employment to the Diocese and also to cater for all the schools’ food needs that are in our Diocese”
“This initiative is going to help revamp the Diocese to self fund all the projects that we might want to do in our respective parishes and schools instead of relying on third parties,”
“All schools that are in the Diocese should be at par and have the same type of education with uniform results despite their location, like for example Makambe Mission which is in Chikombedzi they should be competing with other top schools like Gokomere and so forth,” he said.
Since his installation as the Bishop of Masvingo Diocese, Bishop Mupandasekwa has so far visited St Theresa parish and St Don Bosco and is on a mission to visit all the parishes in the Diocese.
After Holy Mass Bishop Mupandasekwa took time to interact with parishioners and families to get first hand information about the activities at the parish.
He also had time for photo shoot with members as he interacted while giving blessings to individuals and families.
