On July 5, alert police officers deployed at a roadblock along the Beitbridge–Gwanda Road arrested a woman and her son for unlawful possession of dagga at 90km peg in the Makhado area.

National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the suspects, identified as Sibusisiwe Ncube (43) and her son Stephen Ncube (27), were travelling in a truck bearing foreign number plates when they were intercepted.

Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered 12 cobs of dagga stashed inside, with a combined weight of approximately 25 kilogrammes.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
