GWERU-Robbers stole an unknown quantity of goods from a house in Ridgemont area of Gweru City and rapped last Saturday at around 1am, the Police has told The Midweek Watch.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, told this publication  that five unknown men broke into a house armed with machetes and knives. They assaulted two occupants who were sleeping in the house, in different rooms, demanding money.

He said they went on to ransack the house and stole an unknown amount of money in cash, various clothes, two cell phones, two laptops and the house keys.

While the robbery was in progress one of the robbers raped one of the two complainants in one of the rooms after threatening to kill her. The robbers then drove away the complainant’s Toyota Alex motor vehicle, registration number 9086, gold in colour.

Both complainants were referred to Gweru Provincial Hospital for medical attention. Total value stolen is yet to be ascertained.

“We appeal for any information that can help in this investigation. We also urge members of the public to tighten security at their homes and where finances permit, adopt modern security methods,” said Mahoko.
