All is set for the Mutare Pacific Regional Soccer tournament set for tomorrow (Saturday) at Chinyausunzi community ground.

The tournament aims to promote social cohesion by bringing together teams from the local communities in Mutare, in a celebration of sport and teamwork.

This year’s tournament will feature four teams namely Chipolopolo FC, Ghetoo Stars FC, Rozvi FC and Quart FC. The teams will compete in a round-robin format, with top teams advancing to the final. The tournament is open to players not above the age of 30years.

The champions for the one day tournament will have the opportunity to represent the province in the national finals scheduled to take place in Harare on December 8.

Pacific company trade marketing manager Kudakwashe Chiutsi underscored that the tournament will positively bring people together in this festive season.

“The soccer tournament is a community activity to support talent within communities despite age. This gives them a platform to be seen by other clubs and contribute to positive learning. We believe that sports have the power to transform lives and bring people together. Through this tournament, we aim to provide a platform for players to develop their skills, build confidence and learn valuable life skills like teamwork and discipline,” said Chiutsi.

She reiterated that her company’s sponsorship of the tournament demonstrates their commitment to supporting community development initiatives and promoting learning through sports.

The four competing teams are eagerly anticipating the event, which promises to be an exciting display of local talent and a celebration of community spirit.
