In a landmark event that promises to be a highlight of Culture Month, acclaimed Afro-jazz artist Maramba Blessing Tendai aka “WekwaMaramba from Masvingo is set to host a concert that will celebrate the rich heritage of Zimbabwe’s indigenous culture.
Titled “Celebrating Indigenous Voices,” the event will take place at the prestigious Charles Austin Theatre in Masvingo on May 24th.
WekwaMaramba’s unique blend of traditional African rhythms with contemporary jazz has earned him international acclaim, with performances in China and Turkey earlier this year. Now, he is bringing his world-class talent home to Masvingo, where he will showcase his captivating stage presence and soulful melodies.
The concert is expected to be a truly inclusive experience, welcoming youth and adults of all backgrounds and beliefs.
Organizers anticipate a full house of around 250 to 300 attendees, with advance ticket sales already performing exceptionally well. Tickets are priced to ensure everyone can experience this unique cultural celebration, with front-row seats available for $10, general admission for $5, and children admitted for just $1.
The event is made possible through a collaborative effort between Ebenezer Properties, Ivory Cafe, local banks, and generous individuals. This robust support highlights the growing community backing for the arts and underscores the importance of cultural celebrations like “Celebrating Indigenous Voices.”
