By Tatenda ‘Colourful Villain’ Matake
The toxicity of patriarchy and masculinity
The death of many’s essence and personality
In which a big chunk is forced into undesired conformity
To this toxic order and fraternity
In which they seek to merge with their ‘pre’ in parity
In their endless quest for belonging and identity
And deem such, to ‘them’, a pint of loyalty
And to any deviation, a sign of deformity
Yet in its basal essence there’s no trace of purity
Indoctrination has it by nature , to affiliate
To complete enmity
To femininity
Which so happens to be ‘their’ medium through which to exist
It’s absurd , that which they perpetuate
It forces many to overlook their desires for values
Which were propounded based on the view of ‘those’
With little regard to the dynamics of cultures
Or the diversity in nature and desires
The many sacrifices and inhibitions mocks iron shackles
It seeks to nullify sentiment and intellect to exalt the muscles
Sometimes strength is not even a piece in life puzzles
It inhibits you in the context of principles
Which sometimes do not fall into your spectacles
It triggers you to loathe and subside that which, in you, emotions do arouse
Though unnoticed, her efforts and virtues do deserve an applause
Regardless of the hiccups, she keeps on reciting without a pause
With much devotion, like in contract, honouring a clause.
