GUTU-The police in Masvingo is investigating a murder case involving a 44-year-old woman from Chipesa 3, Chatsworth in Gutu, who allegedly died following a domestic dispute with her boyfriend.
The deceased, identified as Chipo Terere was reportedly attacked by her boyfriend Reuben Ganyiwa in the early hours of March 29 at around 0100 hours.
According to reports from the police, the couple was sleeping in a bedroom hut when a misunderstanding arose.
Neighbours, who heard suspicious sounds coming from the hut rushed to investigate.
Upon arrival, they found Ganyiwa outside the hut holding a log while Terere was lying inside in a pool of blood.
Villagers attempted to rush Terere to hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries on the way.
The suspect fled the scene shortly after the incident.
Police officers who attended the scene observed a deep cut on the forehead of the deceased and multiple bruises all over her body.
The body was later taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Masvingo province police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa urged couples to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.
Police are appealing to members of the public with information on the whereabouts of Reuben Ganyiwa to report to the nearest police station.
