7 killed in separate accidents on same day

Two accidents occurred on the country’s roads on 14 September, leaving seven people dead and 11 others injured in Masvingo and Rusape.
ZRP national police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the accidents.
In the first accident, a Nissan Serena vehicle with eight occupants veered off the road and overturned at the 60km peg along Roy-Chiredzi Road, resulting in the deaths of four people. Four others were injured and are currently admitted at Musiso Hospital.
The victims have not yet been identified by their next of kin.
In another fatal accident, three people were killed and seven others injured in a head-on collision involving two Toyota Hilux vehicles at the 165km peg along Harare-Mutare Road.
One of the victims was identified as Chigweshe Tendai Amon (52), a male adult from Neshena Village, Makoni.
Commissioner Nyathi urged motorists to exercise caution and avoid overtaking when it is not safe to do so.
“Drivers are reminded to ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on a journey,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
